Artist Pet Peeve

I was doing some research on the genre that I am writing Forbid Thy Love for and I found an interesting article. I can't exactly remember where I found it or what it was called because it's been months but the content stood out to me. The bit I do remember is the article was about J.K Rowling's experience as a new writer and in that article she talked about an experience at the bookstore. She saw young men checking out the fantasy (I believe it was fantasy or science fiction) and they found a book that interested them but didn't buy because a woman wrote it. That right there is what truly peeves me, men think we can't write books in other genres. They generally associate female authors with romance such as Stephenie Meyers with the Twilight series, or Erika Leonard best known as E L James author of Fifty Shades of Grey. Now I'm not saying that females don't predominantly write romance because they do, but it's aggravating when a woman wants to write something outside of Romance and is criticized and told no and to just stick to what we're good at.

This doesn't just apply to the writing world either. I've seen this everywhere because apparently we aren't good enough to write something like the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini or paint like Picasso. It seems that because we do not share the same genitals that we are automatically inferior in our capabilities. Before I get hate, I want to mention that I know not all men do this, in fact some welcome the change of pace in this field but most want to try to make a female writer, painter, sculptor, etc. that we aren't ever going to be as good as them which I believe now we're beginning to shine truly because of all the women of our field becoming so well known and that is the right step. Sexism isn't ever going to go away but we can do what we can to ensure that we ignore their taunts and enjoy what we do.

This rant went on a little longer than I actually thought so I'm going to end this and get back to my writing before I drive myself insane.

Hope you all have a wonderful night~

Mayberry London Background

Mayberry is a small town in the more abandoned parts of London, England. It was founded by Elizabeth Mayberry in the early Victorian era (1838). Unbeknownst to the rest of the word Elizabeth was a werewolf, which made Mayberry a predominately werewolf filled location. As the years went on new residents moved in having no clue of the town’s history and the fact that they were surrounded by inhuman creatures of the night. As night creatures began killing the humans that moved into Mayberry half the town began to become abandoned leaving decrepit mansions, townhouses, condos, etc. With this side becoming more and more abandoned the night creatures began seeking residence in the abandoned buildings. The current residents of Mayberry are only partly aware of what goes on in the town and they all know to stay away from Old Mayberry if they value their lives. With the increase of the murders hunters had started moving into the town, specifically a group of hunters known only as the Nighthawks. The creatures of the night having this new threat has permanently blocked of Old Mayberry and should anyone enter they’re killed on sight. The town is located just outside a forest on the edge of London, there’s only three roads that lead into London with only two being traveled as the third runs through Old Mayberry. The town is small due to this reason and not located on any map and is solely known by the locals of England.

Forbid Thy Love Chapter Two Sneak Peek

“I-I’m not a hunter…I mean, yes I am a born hunter but…I don’t like hurting anyone. I came to Mayberry for an assignment, I was supposed to hunt down Raiden but...those weren’t my true intentions.” I growled quietly under my breath as my body shuddered. Skin became replaced my fur, nails replaced by long sharp claws, and teeth replaced by canines as I slowly changed into my wolf form. I jumped at the door bursting it open and looked over at Seth. He cowered into the corner of the shower and May screamed in terror. Most of our kind grew to be no bigger than a fully grown Great Dane dog when transformed but I on the other hand was just a tad smaller than a fully grown Stallion which is why I am the alpha of all the packs. I didn’t wait to hear Seth’s pleas instead I grabbed him by his arm making sure I broke skin and drug him out into the hallway.

“Please Master! Don’t kill me!” I returned to human form and kicked Seth down the steps.

“So you came to kill me Seth?!” I growled in anger.

“Oh look at who’s become the big bad alpha.” I growled, I could practically hear the grin on his face when he almost sung that to me. I didn’t even have to look to see who it was, I knew very well who it was.

“What do you want, Balthazar?” I turned to come face-to-face with the vampire that caused my heart die and my body to become alienated from what it once was. Balthazar backed me into a wall and looked into my eyes.

“Oh Raiden, I missed you. I want you back and I want that little human you’re harboring, his family has sent me to retrieve him.” My eyes widened as anger pulsed through my body.
